NHS and Private Dentistry

At Leek Dental Centre we offer NHS dentistry and this will provide all the clinically necessary care and treatment to secure your oral health. Some treatments such as implants & cosmetic treatments such as whitening, white fillings on posterior teeth are not available on the NHS and can be provided privately.

What are the NHS charges?

If you pay for NHS dental treatment, there are three standard charges. The amount you pay depends on the treatment you might need to keep your teeth and gums healthy. All charges apply to an overall course of treatment, and not the individual items within the course of treatment. You will only pay one charge for each course – even if you need to visit your dentist more than once to finish it.

Band 1

This covers an examination, diagnosis (including x-rays), advice on how to prevent future problems, a scale if needed and application of fluoride varnish or fissure sealant.

Band 2

This covers everything in Band 1 above, plus any other treatments such as fillings, root canal work, or removal of teeth.

Band 3

This covers everything listed in bands 1 and 2 above, plus metal crowns, dentures and bridges.

Choice of Private Treatment

Treatment that is not allowed on the NHS will be made available to patients who request it as a private treatment. A full estimate and treatment plan will be given to you in writing before treatment commences (at your initial consultation).
